There is only one main rule on Aurora – Be a respectful player. Respect other players. As common sense dictates, do not insult, harass or troll other players on Aurora. Be nice! Similarly, do not start or participate in flame wars or pointless arguments. If another player is harassing you or violating the rules, report them to a staff member, using the forums or Discord if none are immediately available. Direct retaliation is never the answer – do not throw insults back simply because you were insulted first. Be mindful of younger players on the server. Avoid excessive cursing/swearing, as well as sending or posting inappropriate content anywhere - including but not limited to sexual, racist, homophobic or sexist content. Respect the community’s discussion areas. Do not spam the in-game chat, forums (status update and Shoutbox inclusive) or Discord. Spamming may result in a mute, or even a permanent mute if continuous. What is considered spam? Large amounts of any kind of pointless characters, text or messages. LARGE AMOUNTS OF CAPITAL LETTERS. Xzjnfnjdnhzs gibberish with no actual meaning. Character names that contain any of the above. Advertising; do not advertise anything, including other servers and/or real-world products. Please help us keep the forums tidy by avoiding the following: Contentless posts & content unrelated to the objective of the original post in threads/sections meant for serious discussion. Double-posting. Use the edit function as far as possible, rather than creating another post to elaborate on the same topic. "Necro"-ing threads (i.e posting on old threads, thus bumping them to recency). Intentionally misleading thread titles. Refrain from chatting in languages other than English in public discussion areas. Aurora is an English community, and we would appreciate that users use that to communicate. If you really need to chat in other languages, you may do so privately using /w in-game (on both our Terraria and Minecraft servers) or through private messages on the forums or Discord. Respect everyone’s property. Griefing is not allowed on either of Aurora's servers. Doing so will result in a warning for the first infraction, which may be followed up by a ban if repeated. What is considered griefing? Destroying another player's home/building/construction or defacing it in any way. Destroying excessive amounts of the world’s terrain or digging large, pointless holes on the surface. Respect Terraria and Minecraft. Hacks, trainers or modified clients are prohibited on Aurora. A first offense will result in a warning, but continued usage may lead to a ban. Likewise, discussion about hacks and modified clients is not allowed and will be treated similarly to spamming or discussion of inappropriate content. Respect the staff team. We seek your cooperation in not arguing, insulting or trolling the staff. The staff are here to streamline your experience at Aurora and help you wherever we can, but please remain courteous and polite when approaching us. In any dispute or conflict, the final decision lies with the staff. Do not argue with them if they tell you to stop doing something. Follow their instructions when they issue instructions. Moreover, do not waste staff members’ time, such as by pretending to grief, or by partially damaging your own property (thus making it seem like a grief). Respect the trust granted to you by default. On Aurora Terraria, we provide you the tools and commands needed to simplify obtaining items and building tremendously in order to improve your player experience. However, if you prove that you cannot be trusted with said tools, your access to them may be revoked. /i and /give are the mainstay of the commands available to you, but they can be easily abused as well. Do not use them to spam other players’ inventories with items they do not want, and do not drop excessive amounts of items on the ground. The /building and /rg commands are meant to help you deal with griefers, but they are not there for you to abuse! You should only be using them where appropriate: /building when you have a build of sufficient detail, /rg when you notice that the world’s terrain or a build has clearly been damaged. Our Minecraft server uses a different system of protection which does not require staff intervention. Respect the spirit of the rules. If you fail to uphold these rules, you may be warned for your actions. Repeat offenses may result in a mute, kick or even a ban in severe cases, handled at the discretion of the staff. This list of rules is non-exhaustive and staff members have the final call when deciding on who is breaking the rules and what action to take consequently. If you are muted or banned, do not attempt to circumvent your mute/warn/ban, be it through using another account, whether in-game, on the forums, or on Discord. In addition, do not try to use clever logic to find loopholes in them (e.g changing one letter in a racist slur and claiming that it isn't a violation of the rules). Moderators are not above these rules and must adhere to them accordingly. If you feel like a staff member is treating you unfairly or harassing you, you may bring up the issue with a higher staff member (i.e the Owner, Managers, or Administrators). Thank you for taking the time to read the complete rules. We hope that you will work together with us by adhering to them well!
