Hey everyone, I'll make this fairly quick. We're switching to Discord instead of Slack for our live communication... chat. Although we know a lot of people like Slack and we never had any major issues (mostly) with Slack, here is a quick summary of why we decided to make the change: Spoiler Slack: Pros: Great layoutCons: Limited message history (~24h) Limited integrations (bots) Limited file storage No user groups/permission system (other than admin/owner) Discord: Pros: Unlimited message history/integrations/files Voice chat (duh) Custom user groups/roles Full control over permissions per user & per channel Integrates with other gaming software (Twitch, Steam, etc) out-of-the-box NicknamesCons: No private groups (although we can make a channel private by setting permissions) Limited custom emoji Lower rate limit (although this hasn't yet been an issue) As for Slack, we will likely "turn off" AuroraBot in approximately a week. We will disable our Slack team shortly after that. To begin with, we will allow anyone to join our Discord server. However, if people take advantage of it, we will restrict invites again. Here's the invite link: https://discord.gg/MkMh54y --------- In other news, you may have noticed that our in-game chat has changed a bit. We have removed colors from the messages you send in order to cut back on the pure color spam that's been on the server. We've also redone the color scheme - as ranks were added over the past two years, new ranks just received any available color, and thus ranks didn't have any dedicated color scheme to them. Now colors have been reapplied, with similar ranks getting similar colors. Feel free to leave feedback about any of the above here in this thread.
